I remember being at Twisters1 late one night in my early 20s and thinking to myself, “This is too loud. I wish I was sitting in a La-Z-Boy. It’s past my bedtime.” What can I say? I’m the kind of guy who spent A LOT of time in the library when I was a teenager.
At last, my peers are catching up to me. Friends my age now tell me over and over that they don’t go to shows anymore because music happens too loudly, too uncomfortably, and too late.
The release show for New Love Stories will be none of those things! It will be civilized!
We’ll play two sets of songs from the first two records — and maybe a surprise cover or two. The show is seated. Doors open at 7 and the music will start promptly at 8. We’re planning a special night, and we’d love to share it with you.
Tickets for the May 4 album release show are on sale now. Seating is limited.
Oh, and — we released our second single, “Rice Paper (I’m a Man)”, from the record last week. It contains some of the lyrics I’m most proud of having written so far in life:
I am a man and god
had to have known
that Adam’s extra rib
was the last decent bone
in his body
Last week I wrote that the song was dedicated to anyone who has ever sought real intimacy with men. True enough — but it’s aimed at the troglodytes of the manosphere.

I love the line about the rib. This is a wonderful song.
Love this so much.
