Tomorrow we’re releasing our second single from New Love Stories. It’s called “Rice Paper (I’m a Man).” I dedicate this song to everyone whose heart has ever yearned for intimacy with male human beings.
Do I know the madness of maleness from the inside? Yes, I do. Is admitting it in a droll song enough to expiate that madness? No, it is not. But as I’ve said here before—the only path out of lovelessness is the one that winds through its darkness. Making art about that darkness is one of the only ways I’ve found to make it at all tolerable.
Here’s “Rice Paper (I’m a Man)” a day early for readers of this newsletter:
Also: Tickets for our album release show are available now for newsletter readers. The show will be on Saturday, May 4, at The Basement. The Basement is a really interesting new nonprofit performance venue, art gallery, and bar at the corner of East Broad and 3rd Street. There are plenty of seats, and the room sounds great.
And: Tomorrow’s another Bandcamp Friday. Haven’t preordered the record (or poster or CD) yet? Here’s the link.
got the digital album because I couldn't pass up the poster artwork (arfwork?). and I got my ticket to the Basement show. Very cool venue. Can't wait to hear Timothy Bailey & the Humans there! See you soon.
