Hello. I’m back.
Our second album is coming out toward the beginning of May. It’s called New Love Stories — a title that’s at least as aspirational as it is audacious.
I think it’s a great record. We’re all proud of it. It’s made me think about how much there is to say about love.
So for the foreseeable future I’ll be writing to you weekly. Among other things, I’ll be sharing previews and behind-the-scenes peeks about the album and the band, giving away swag, and asking you some questions. This will be a conversation.
Our album uses love not just in a romantic way (though it does that too), but as a metonym for human connection in all its forms. Human connection keeps us human. Without it we are disconnected. Alienated. Fragmented. Alone.
This is what the new record is about, and what we’ll be discussing in these communications every week.
I want to leave you with a link to my all-time favorite love song. It feels a little corny to admit that I have one, but I do. It does everything I can imagine a love song needing to do. This video reliably makes me weep.
What video about love do you love?
Until next week,
Tim
Hey, thanks for saying hi and for buying the last record. Bob is the glue that holds everything together.
I don’t know if there’s a relevant video, but my favorite love dong is Cover Me Up by Jason Isbell. My favorite lines:
Girls leave your boots by the bed,
We ain’t leaving this room
Until someone needs medical help
Or the magnolias bloom
It takes a corny sentiment and makes it suddenly somewhat disturbing, which I admire.
